Where Is Truth?

We have lost our moorings.
A Republic requires an ethical and informed citizenry.  We have insufficient amounts of both ethics and information. The result is inevitable: The loss of the Republic, which is in full swing right now.

There was a time when the News media took their role in our Republic seriously. Their standard was to not report anything that was not known to be true.  The result was the people’s confidence in the information provided, which was well earned and facilitated the informing of those once ethical citizens.

Today’s front page of the wall street journal has a picture of a 90 year old woman receiving “…the initial dose of the two-shot Covid-19 vaccine…” Please note that “wall street journal” is not capitalized as an expression of a lack of respect that, as you will see, is well earned.

Here at Balanced Thought, we still stick to the old crazy idea that items claiming to be true should, in reality, be true.

The truth is that this widely spread image is a lie. Here is a still of a video posted by CNN back on October 10th 2020:

Please note the date of this “news” story by cnn: “Thu October 22, 2020”. Why would someone be wearing a Christmas sweatshirt before Halloween?

Our apologies for the image quality but we wanted to provide the web page context including the cnn header and the date of the video. That coupled with the pause feature diming the background video forced us to the lower quality image.

But we feel the image makes the point. This is clearly the same event in both the cnn video from October 22 of 2020 and the front page of the wall street journal claiming this to have taken place yesterday.

We are disturbed that the once vaunted wall street journal would not check an image used above the fold on their 12/09/2020 front page.
Yet here we are.
We can’t function as a republic without a truthful media. All evidence is making clear that we no longer have a truthful media.

The reader is invited to consider the ramifications of these things:

—  Why would the media lower their standards and risk their reputations?
—  Now that we know we have a media that we can’t trust, where do we go for the information we need to make informed decisions?
—  How do we know what to believe?
—  Who can be trusted? Certainly not the wall street journal.
